There was a city here. Sorcerer-Thane Thaurissan and seven trusted dwarves tried to summon something that would win the War of the Three Hammers, and got Ragnaros. The volcano came up with him and burned the steppes to ash. The survivors were enslaved and went underground, and the wreck of their capital is in the north of this zone.
