Swamp. Water, trees, the same wet green as the Swamp of Sorrows next door — until Medivh opened the Portal and the marshes were twisted and dried up by the magic that brought it here. The northern border is the seam where the damage stopped. Walk it and you cross from bog to red desert in about a minute.
